‘‘The electric light is pure information’
Marshall McLuhan ,
The Medium is the Message
My work develops from a long process of seeking, collecting and organising photographic fragments before composing the elements into a new piece. In the work I often try to emulate the characteristics of the photograph; the frame, what is contained within it, the illusion of depth, the frozen moment and, increasingly in the information age, the illumination of its content.
In many respects the photograph represents a solipsistic reality, floating in isolation. In my work I seek to combine independent elements to create new or alternative realities. I am fascinated by our increasing perception through technology and the Utopia that this promises.
