Sinéad Fagan
Form and surface decoration have always appealed to me about working with ceramics. There is a tactile softness to clay and great versatility in the making and firing techniques available.
My work is thrown on the wheel and also built by hand. I use a firing technique called saggar firing, which allows a fuming process to take place. The effect of the fumes can create distinctive combinations of colours and patterns onto the surface, which makes each piece completely individual and unique.
